John Thorogood, a Director of Ward Gethin Archer is a keen cyclist and member of Ely District Cycling Club. He has recently completed an assent of the iconic Tour De France climb "Mont Ventoux".
At 1,912 metres and known as the "Giant of Provence" this is a tough climb with gradients of up to 11%.
Starting in the village of Bedoin the assent is approximately 15 miles and took John about two and a half hours.
Mont Ventoux is a tough climb and in the 1967 edition of the Tour De France, the English professional cyclist Tommy Simpson died just a kilometre from the summit.
John said "It was a tough climb but a fantastic sense of achievement once I got to the top".
